In this tutorial we are going to show you how to a“Remove Blemish” from your Son or Daughter’s photo. As you can see in the image below this young boy has ended up with a very nasty bruise on his forehead.

photoshop

So how do we get rid of this? We are going to be using the following tools; “Patch Tool” and the “Clone Stamp Tool”.

The first thing you need to select is the “Elliptical Marquee Tool” which can be found on the right handside. Now you just need to drag a selection over the top of the Blemish. You need to make sure you get all the Blemish inside the selection, plus a little extra.

photoshop

We need to make sure that the selection isn’t very sharp and harsh around the edges. For this we need to “Feather” the selection. Select > Modify > Feather. You’ll notice a dialog box pop up for the “Feather Selection”. You need to alter the Feather Radius to 10pixels. If you have a smaller selection then you need to make your “Feather Selection” smaller.

Once this is done you now need to go ahead and grab your “Patch Tool” you’ll find this on the left handside in your “Tools Pallette”.

To get the “Patch Tool” to work correctly you need to move the “Patch Tool” inside the selection, then click and hold and then drag it to an area you want your selection to look like.

photoshop

If you’re happy you can then just let go, this then deselects that selected area and covers it with the new area.

photoshop

It’s not the finished product yet. Next we need to apply the “Clone Stamp Tool”. This can also be found on the right handside in the “Tools Pallette”. Once this is selected make sure you have the correct brush size, also make sure the “Opacity” is set to 60. Now just hold down “Alt or Option” and click to sample an area, then just start painting on top of the area you are altering.

photoshop

You’ll then notice it correcting that area, carry on with this process until you are really happy with your end result.

Check out the before and after shot below.

In this tutorial we are going to show you how to “Whiten Teeth” with just a few very simple steps. As you can see in this image the teeth look very discoloured.

photoshop

The first thing you need to do is make your “Selection”. In this tutorial the “Magic Wand Tool” was used, but you can use the “Lasso Tool”, “Pen Tool” or any tool you want to make your selection with.

If you want to use the “Magic Wand Tool” then you need to select it from the right handside. Next you can alter your “Tolerance”, the setting used for this was 32.

You now need to make your first selection, to do this you need to click over the teeth and “Hold Down Shift” and continue clicking until all the teeth are selected.

photoshop

Now you need to smooth out the selection a little, to do this we need to use “Feather”. You need to Press Select > Modify > Feather and have the Feather Radius set to 3pixels. The reason we are doing this is so that when we have our colour corrections they’re not as sharp, this way they won’t look unnatural.

The next thing you need to do is add some adjustment layers. So head over to your “Adjustment Layers Pallete” and click on the black and white button, we are looking for the “Hue and Saturation Button”. In Photoshop CS3 or below the “Hue and Saturation Button” can be found in the tabs across the top.

If you are using Photoshop CS4 it will appear as a panel, but if you’re using Photoshop CS3 or below this will appear as a Dialog box.

Inside the “Adjustments Layers Tab” you’ll see 3 settings, the first setting you need to change is the “Saturation”. You’ll need to decrease it to get rid of the discolouring on the teeth. Then increase the “Lightening” setting just slightly.

photoshop

At this stage the teeth look good, but you’ll notice that we need to get rid of the shadows in the middle of the teeth. Getting rid of these shadows will give your teeth more definition and make them stand out more.

You need to add one more “Adjustment Layer” then hold down “Command or Ctrl” on the “Adjustment Layer” to make that selection once again, then you need to select your “Adjustments Levels”.

Then very simply drag your midtones to the right slightly, this will darken it up a little. Then select the highlights and drag it to the left. You’ll have to play around with the settings here, you’re looking for something which looks very natural.

Check the before and after photos below for the end result.

In this tutorial we are going to show you the method of changing eye colour and how to make them really stand out. You’ll see in this photo the eyes are a little bit dull, not too colourful and not too saturated, We’ll be dealing with all these issues in this tutorial.

photoshop

This method works well with blue and brown eyes. So let’s begin, the first thing you need to do is make the selection of the eye, it doesn’t really matter how you do this, but We’ll be using the pen tool, make sure paths is turned off.

photoshop

When you are dealing with anything in the eye area you need to have a soft selection, The feather radius for this was 3pixels.

Once you have your selection made you now need to go into your curves Dialog Box > Image > Adjustments > Curves. Now you’ll see the curves dialog box pop up. The first thing you’re looking to do here is to brighten the selection. So just drag the line up a bit in RGB mode, once you’re happy then just click ok, then you need to drag it up a little again on the blue channel and press ok again.

photoshop

To see the changes make sure you see the before and after shots in your palette. To get the best result you need to use the “Burn and Dodge Tool” this will give depth. Set your brush around 20pixels and set the hardness around the mid point, also set the range to “Highlights” and “Range” to low.

Next, you need to drag the brush right outside the pupil area and you will notice it get a little brighter, repeat this again until you’re happy.

photoshop

Now you need to grab your “Burn Tool” and very simply drag on the outline, this will give it depth, again repeat this until you’re happy.

photoshop

You have two options here, you can leave it or you can create a new pupil. We are going to show you how to create a new pupil. The first thing you need to do is create a new layer. Select the “Elliptical Tool” and hold down shift and drag out over the pupil so you have the same size, also make sure it’s feather, Select > Refine Edge > Modify > Feather, set the Radius to 5pixels.

photoshop

Once you have done this make sure the background colour is set to Black, then just delete. This will give you a new pupil.

photoshop

You’ll notice you’re now missing the highlight, to add this in you need to create a new layer and make sure your foreground colour is set to white. Now grab your “Brush Tool” set the mode to > Normal, then just click.

photoshop

Now you have a new eye. Below you’ll see the before and after shots. You’ll notice the new eye is a lot brighter and more defined. This method can be used on any colour you like!

CS3 Photoshop Help - Facial Retouching

Before you carry on, would you like to Learn How To Use Photoshop CS3 the correct way? If you do, make sure you click the link below. Enjoy :)

In this tutorial we are going to be looking at facial retouching. It’s real easy to do and very effective on your final image.

As you can see in this image below this women has a beautiful smile, but we are going to get rid of the unwanted wrinkles and moles.

photoshop

The first thing you need to do is open up the image which you are going to alter. Next, you need to duplicate your background layer. Your next step is to go to Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur, you’ll do this on your new layer. Then just click OK.

You now need to set your Layers Blending Mode to Colour. Next you need to double click on that layer which will open the Blending Options. Then you need to un-check the following two options which are R and G. See image below.

photoshop

We need to use the Curves and the reason we are using the Curves is to balance the colours in your image. You need to create a new Curves Adjustment Layer and you can do this by going to the top of your layer palette. After that you then need to click on the little button which is at the right of the Preset Control and then we need to Select > Load Preset, as this will load the file.

After you have done that we are now going to smooth out the face. You can use any of the Cloning or Healing Tools for this, but in this example the Healing Brush Tool (J) was used. We are going to remove the four freckles which can be seen on her face and body. See image below

photoshop

To do this you need to create a new blank layer and this should be just above your background layer. Now you need to Select > Healing Brush (J), and at this stage you need to make sure the “Sample All Layers” is checked. Now just paint over the four freckles. If you are doing anything like this make sure you never alter your source image, as you never know when you might need it.

Next we need to duplicate the 3 layers which are below your Curve Layer. To do this you just need to drag them down to the new layer button and then make sure you Press CMD + E as this will merge your 3 duplicates.

Your next step is to Select > Polygonal Lasso Tool. Once you have selected this you need to click around her face, so keep doing this until all the skin is selected. Once you have done this and you’re happy, you need to Press ALT and click on anything which is not skin, eyes, lips, eyebrows etc. Again if you’re happy with this, you need to go back and deselect the areas which have a detail which needs to remain, ie nose, collar bone, dimples etc. You should end up with something like this.

photoshop

Next you need to invert the selection and to do this we need to Press (Shift + CMD + I), and you need to delete those pixels. If you’re happy, you need to Select > Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur. In this example the following figures were used;- the radius 20, the layer opacity was 75%. Now need to select and duplicate the same bottom 3 layers and then Press CMD + E as this will merge the 3 together.

Now you need to put that layer just above the blurred layer. You should now have the new layer selected and you now need to Press CMD + Alt + G. What you are doing now is creating a clipping mask and we do this because the top layer uses the bottom layers transparency for a mask. Next you should still have your new layer selected and need to Select > Filter > Other > High Pass and the setting used for the radius was 4. See image below to see what it should look like.

photoshop

Once you have done this your next step is to set the blending mode of that layer to Linear Layer and make sure you set the opacity to around 40% and that’s it. See below for the final images, for the Before and After shots.

How To Use Photoshop CS2 - Blending Images Together

Before you carry on, would you like to Learn How To Use Photoshop CS2 the correct way? If you do make sure you click the link below. Enjoy :)

I must admit blending two images together in Photoshop is my favourite. In this tutorial you’ll be using the Apply Image Command and the reason we are using the Apply Image Command is because it allows us to blend or apply a layer and channel from one image with another imag. You can also channel off another image. Personally, I think this way gives you a better end result.

The first thing you need to do before you get started is to find the two images you’re going to use. See images below.

Image 1

photoshop

Image 2

photoshop

Now you need to Select your primary image. Your other image is your source image.

photoshop

Next you need to duplicate your background layer on your target image. You’ll see your background layer in your layer palette on the right hand side. To duplicate your image just Press Ctrl+J (Win) / Command+J (Mac).

If you’re happy with this, the next step is to go to the top of your screen and select “Apply Image” and you’ll see a dialog box appear. You’ll notice a selection of different options, in the middle there is an option which says “Target”. This gives you the information of which two images you’ll be blending together, plus you’ll also notice that the target image is in RGB mode.

photoshop

The next thing you need to look at is the “Source Image”, which you’ll see at the very top. This just shows you the currently correct selected “Source Image”. In this tutorial we will only be dealing with two images, but if you had more images to blend then you could select more from the source box.

photoshop

Our main goal here is trying to blend two images together, so you need to have the following settings in.

Source: Your Source Image

Layer: This will be set to Background

Channel: RGB

Target: Is your target image

Blending: Overlay

Opacity: This is how much you want both images to blend together. I would normally have this set to 100% but please play around with this setting.

photoshop

You’ll see there are two more option tick boxes at the bottom, “Preserve Transparency” and “Mask”, but for this example we don’t need them. If you have some free time just apply a tick in each box and see what the outcome is like in your final image. Remember you can also undo each process. See image below for final outcome.
